New year, new technology. Xiaomi beats the competition and launches Mi Air Charge for remote wireless charging without any cables or power wireless charging stands. The brand-new system allows you to charge your devices across few meters of distance thanks to a system of 144 antennas.
Mi Air Charge: remote charging
Xiaomi has launched Mi Air Charge Technology, a revolutionary form of charging that innovates wireless charging methods. This technology allows users to remotely charge their devices without the use of any cables or other devices, opening up an innovative way to charge devices.
The core technology behind Mi Air Charge Technology lies in spatial positioning and energy transmission.
The remote charging tower developed by Xiaomi has five built-in phase detection antennas that can accurately determine the location of the smartphone. A phase control array composed of 144 antennas transmits millimeter-wide waves directly to the smartphone through beamforming.
Beacon antennas and receiving array
In addition, on the smartphone side, Xiaomi has developed a miniaturized antenna array with an integrated beacon antenna and receiving antenna array. The beacon antenna broadcasts position information with low power consumption. The receiving array composed of 14 antennas converts the millimeter-wave signal emitted by the charging pile into electric energy through a rectifier circuit to turn this sci-fi experience into reality.

Currently, Xiaomi’s remote charging technology is capable of charging a single device at 5 watts within a radius of several meters. Mi Air Charge can charge multiple devices simultaneously, without receiving any interference from physical obstacles.
